Job Description:

The Digital Marketing Segment Manager creates and executes segment marketing plans and campaigns to grow volume, revenue, and profit within targeted audiences. The ideal candidate will collaborate with other groups to ensure the right messages get to the customer through appropriate communication channels. This position identifies targeted markets, researches buying behaviors, and provides subject matter expertise to team members and the broader organization on digital marketing campaigns. The selected candidate will be monitoring and reporting performance of marketing initiatives to senior management to explain any variance to plan and outline key learnings or issues.

The Digital Marketing Segment Manager provides support on the use of tools such as customer journey mapping and persona creation to produce the most accurate understanding of target audiences. This person will be leveraging knowledge of available digital marketing tools and tactics to design and execute campaigns through optimal channels. This position conducts meetings with internal groups to explain benefits for new offerings and how to position new programs and offerings in the marketplace. The selected candidate will be developing business case documentation for campaigns that will significantly impact COMPANY and/or customers, and develops projections of customer needs and potential solutions. This position supervises others in the department.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree
  • Experience using digital marketing execution tools (marketing automation systems, data management platforms, or digital experience management platforms)
  • Experience using digital marketing analytics tools (web analytics platforms, marketing visualization, reporting platforms)


  • Applies Knowledge of Segmenting and Targeting: Applies analytics and logic to select and recommend target segments; identifies and completes processes to classify customers and prospects into targeted segments; profiles needs, expectations, and business processes of firms in target segments; able to create succinct, customer centric value statements focused on the most salient product/service benefits supported by solid customer insights.
  • Applies Problem Definition & Structuring Knowledge: Adept at thoroughly defining problems and structuring analytical paths to solving them; disaggregates problems into key issues to efficiently solve them; selects efficient analytical approaches that fit the situation.
  • Conducts Environmental Scanning: Maintains basic awareness of potential regulations that could impact product or segment; monitors emerging technologies and potential impact on the ways transportation and logistics companies serve customers.
  • Develops Marketing Objectives and Strategies: Establishes appropriate and well defined marketing objectives and strategies; identifies and evaluates a range of alternative strategies to achieve objectives.
  • Develops Promotion and Demand Generation Programs: Establishes clearly defined demand generation objectives; creates a plan defining the appropriate sequencing of promotional tactics and tracks plan performance; establishes forecasted impact of plans backed by research and past performance analysis identifies the select set of promotional tactics that efficiently achieve objectives and strategies; ensures programs and solutions are established to maximize the value of relationships with customers across the dimensions of service, value delivery and economic return.
  • Develops Situational Assessments: Establishes and maintains a comprehensive marketplace assessment of customers, competitors, and other relevant market factors; gains new and unique customer insights through Datamodelling, marketing research, frontline personnel interviews and direct customer engagement; establishes learning objectives and plans to fill gaps in knowledge; analyzes issues for root causes and opportunities to prioritize key issues; evaluates, from a customer's perspective, the experience of engaging with COMPANY across all touch-points in order to identify improvement opportunities; demonstrates understanding of and monitors the performance of customer sub-segments across the conversion, penetration, retention, and win back cycle.
  • Finance Knowledge: Accurately reads and interprets financial reports and statements; demonstrates an understanding of relevant financial measures, revenue and cost drivers; applies financial analysis to recommend solutions that support business objectives.
  • Project Management: Develops project management plans and leads the implementation for basic projects of short duration requiring limited coordination and resources; supports initiatives with well-defined project needs and cross-functional roles/responsibilities throughout the project life cycle; manages minimal organizational resistance to cross-functional project demands; employs project management tools and technology (eg, Microsoft Project, Program Management Group website, etc.) appropriately.
  • Designs marketing campaigns: including stating objectives and the definition of target audience, value statements, tactics, channels, content, timeline, budgets, and metrics to achieve the business plan
  • Develops project plans: (ie, detailed plan, milestones, and work breakdown structures) and assigns tasks to resources to ensure that the project will be completed on time and according to specifications.
  • Conducts brainstorming sessions: with internal and external groups within areas of UPS's strategic focus to identify new concepts or enhancements to COMPANY products and/or programs.
  • Reviews annual situation assessment: (ie, SWOT [strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats] analysis) to understand past performance of produkey customer issues to develop alternatives in incentive plans, product repositioning and new cts and services.
  • Identifies strategic implementation opportunities: of approaches to the marketplace.
  • Analyzes competitors' messages: (eg, advertising, trade show sponsorships, marketing campaigns, etc.) to understand their market position and make strategic recommendations for COMPANY offerings.
  • Manages resources and people processes: (eg, Quality Performance Review [QPR], Career Development, Training, Staffing, etc.) to ensure the day-to-day administration of processes and formal procedures.
  • Utilizes advanced Access and Data Warehouse skills: to complete reports and analyses.
  • Develops pricing response recommendations & determines relevant impact to internal department & systems (eg, Pricing, Billing, Sales, etc.) to submit to management (eg, Revenue Mgmt. Strategy Manager, Rev Mgmt. Strategy Director, etc.) for input and approval consideration.
  • Provides revenue management guidance: (eg, training, clarification of guidelines, policies, procedures, etc.) to internal departments (eg, Sales, Pricing, Billing, etc.) to support business decisions and operations.
  • Manages customer contract administration tools: to display contract performance and identify underperforming customers and evaluates expiring customers' contracts to determine automatic renewal eligibility
