Artificial Intelligence (AI) is rapidly growing in importance for LexisNexis. Were seeing the acceleration of amazing AI work being developed in the Legal space. AI technology is evolving quickly and there are many sources for AI programming tools which developers are using as part of their products. However, with this rapid growth in development, there is a growing need for establishing AI standards and best-practices. Therefore, we are looking for an experience AI practitioner who is devoted to developing these standards and establishing the AI best-practices for a large organization. We need that rare technologist that is as comfortable consulting with stakeholders who can also develop demos and prototypes to prove the technology for their use case. And is as comfortable working with an engineering team as with the product teams to develop about the next great AI tool.
The primary responsibility of this position will be to provide effective strategic & architectural leadership associated with the development of legal AI. This will require expertise in in the application of machine learning and AI methods with respect to NLP, text analytics and big Data. The position offers the opportunity to work with development and product teams and operational groups to determine technology's applicability to our enterprise requirements. The candidate will bring demonstrable experience in the development of large scale distributed systems on cloud based technologies, Big Data Analytics, Natural Language Processing (NLP), Semantic Technologies or similar advanced technologies. You will also bring experience in software development on big data platforms using a variety of programming languages, data management tools, and specialized libraries for your advanced technology specialties.
Key Roles & Responsibilities:
Architect solutions leveraging AI services, working closely with our customers to deeply understand their business needs and to design a technical solution that takes best advantage of a centralized, best-in-class AI service.
Prove viability of the solution through mechanisms like proof-of-concepts or prototypes.
Thought Leadership Craft & develop compelling audience-specific messages and tools (product videos, customer success stories, demos, whitepapers, presentations, how to guides etc.) Evangelize AI services and technologies through forums such as blogs, Whitepapers, reference architectures and public-speaking events. Capture and share best practices and insights internally and with partners and customers.
Develop and support an AI internal community of Subject Matter Experts.
Serve as a key member of development teams helping to ensure customer success on the AI platform. Act as a technical liaison between customers, service engineering teams and support. Provide updates on customer progress and ensure plan execution by partners.
The candidate will possess both technical and customer-facing skills that will allow them to be a "trusted advisor". He or she will be able to facilitate relationships with senior personnel, as well as easily interact and give guidance to technical experts, software developers, IT pros, and other architects. The ideal candidate will also have a demonstrated ability to think strategically about business, product, and technical challenges.
Technical Skills:
Innovative and solutions-oriented in new technologies, security, and infrastructure.
Advanced knowledge and hands-on expertise in following technologies: Parallel and Distributed ProcessingSystems, Information Retrieval, Data Mining, Natural Language Processing, and Large Scale Databases.
Expert user of AWS services and tools. AWS Certification a plus.
Very strong understanding and experience in the field of AI and related technologies. Deep experience developing AI models in real-world environments.
Significant experience deploying ML models. Significant experience developing AI solutions and passion for getting hands dirty with code eg Familiar using ML Platforms/Tools like MXNet, Cafee, Spark MLlib, TensorFlow, ScikiLearn.
Strong technical architecture, design, deployment and operational level knowledge of AI platforms, standards, protocols and devices.
Computing, System Design, Microservices, APIs, Containerization, Search Technologies, and Graph Databases.
Demonstrate continued enjoyment in writing code as appropriate for technology exploration, patterndevelopment, etc. Able to drill down into code as needed to help solve problems.
Knowledge of various design strategies and how to implement them.
Strong verbal and written communications skills are a must, as well as the ability to work effectively across internal organizations and virtual teams.
Experience and Education:
15+ years of progressive experience in software architecture, design, and engineering roles.
Masters, PhD, or equivalent experience in a quantitative field (Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, etc.).
5+ years professional experience in software development in languages like Python and Java/Scala.
Master level in architectural design, including application architecture/microservices. Strong knowledge of architectural design patterns.
Experience deploying software solutions to a cloud framework (eg Azure, AWS, Google).
Expert level working knowledge of high-performing and very large-scale (big data) computing systems.
Experience working with relational and NoSQL/Graph databases.
Experience working with RESTful API and general service oriented architectures.
Ability to understand and operate broadly across the entire technology landscape.
Strong experience in implementing manageable, high-performing horizontal scale systems, includinginstrumentation, performance tuning, and application performance monitoring.
Proven track record of designing large systems.
