Project Manager (Contract)

Location: Scotland Country: UK Rate: £450 per day
 
Venesky-Brown's client, a public sector organisation with various locations across Scotland, is currently looking to recruit a Project Manager for an initial 3 month contract on a rate of £450/day (Outside IR35). This role will be a hybrid of working at home and in the office.

Responsibilities:

- Plan and manage multiple and significant project and workstream work packages across allocated project(s)
- Develop project plans for the full life cycle of projects from conceptualization to post implementation review
- Plan and manage all stages of project work packages lasting from single event (day) to 2 years duration
- Plan and manage all resources required for delivery of projects being managed
- Manage project team outputs to ensure quality standards are attained on all deliverables
- Plan and manage project governance and reporting in line with agreed standards
- Manage allocated staff and supervise the development of team plans to prioritise and schedule staff in line with organisation requirements
- Implement and manage agreed project management methodologies in project team and provide advice on same across all allocated project(s) and Portfolio Office functions
- Produce final reports on performance for work package and allocated project(s) reports
- Analyse performance management outputs regularly to identify areas for improvement
- Contribute to the long- and short-term interdependent plans for the full range of activities associated with allocated project(s) and Portfolio Office
- Collaborate closely with Senior Responsible Officer, Portfolio Office and Heads of Sections and Managers in delivery of programme/project resources
- Contribute to the development of allocated project(s) and Portfolio Office Governance and Performance, providing guidance and insight into governance and project control policies and procedures
- Responsible for the management of strategic programmes/projects
- Ensure appropriate governance and communication mechanisms are in place for allocated project(s) Managers, Portfolio Office and Senior Responsible Officer
- Responsible for managing project budgets of significant value, ranging from approximately £50K up to £2M

Essential Skills:

- Educated to degree level in an appropriate discipline or equivalent experience
- Prince 2 Practitioner or PMI or equivalent
- Significant experience of managing large complex and technical or development projects
- Evidence of continued professional development
- Skills and experience in at least 3 of the following areas:
  1. Programme Management
  2. Prince 2 Practitioner
iii. Business Analysis
  1. Business Case Development
  2. Software Development
  3. SharePoint Site Development
- Personal resilience and capacity to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines and organisational priorities

Desirable Skills:

- Managing Successful Programmes (MSP) Foundation
- Experience of public sector procurement
- Better Business Cases Foundation
- Experience of working within a formal quality environment
- Knowledge of broad industry trends and technology shifts
- Flexibility in working arrangements (willing to work outwith 'normal' working hours and travel when needed)
