Test Lead (Contract)

Test Lead - 7 Months - Inside IR35 - Edinburgh

Day Rate - Market Rates

Harvey Nash's public sector client are currently looking to recruit a Test Lead to join their team based in Edinburgh for an initial 7 month period.

The Test Lead has responsibility for ensuring all updates and changes made to platforms are tested to the required level prior to deployment to the production environments. This includes updates made by Oracle on a monthly, quarterly or adhoc basis to the organisations Finance and HR systems.

The main duties will include:

  • Development and ownership of testing strategies for each of the platforms owned by the Corporate Hub.
  • Development and ownership of the testing approach and associated plans.
  • Selection and management of the appropriate testing tools.
  • Lead a small team of internal testing capability.
  • Work closely with any external testing service providers to ensure activities are co-ordinated and agreed deliverables met.
  • Collaboration with a wide range of stakeholders to ensure different types of testing are carried out effectively (eg Regression Testing, User Acceptance Testing, Integration Testing, Non-functional testing etc).
  • Take forward the automation of testing using Robotic Process Automation tools as appropriate, liaising with technical experts in other parts of the organisation and external partners.
  • Work closely with the Environments Manager to ensure testing environment requirements are documented and implemented.
  • Ensure defect management processes are in place and managed.
  • Participate in the impact assessment of Oracle changes being deployed to ensure sufficient testing is planned and carried out within tight timescales (this includes Oracle update cycles where testing windows are limited to less than two weeks).
  • Produce reports and dashboards to update on progress and support decision making.
  • Continually improve testing processes.

Essential skills:

  • Experience of designing and executing a wide range of testing techniques and communicating test results to both technical and non-technical stakeholder
  • Demonstrable ability to work effectively with cross-functional business and technical teams
  • Experience of working to tight timelines, adopting a risk-based approach.
  • Understanding of the systems development lifecycle.

Desirable Skills:

  • Knowledge/Experience of software tools which automate or assist the testing process
  • Experience working with Oracle Finance and HR systems.
  • Experience of leading a testing team, including external or interim resources
