Job Title: Head of Engineering

Company Overview: Our client is an innovative fin-tech/legal-tech company, we are exclusively seeking a Head of Engineering to lead a new talented team in Edinburgh. As the Head of Engineering, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the technology landscape (actively hiring a team), driving innovation, and ensuring the successful delivery of projects.

Responsibilities:

• Leadership: Provide strategic direction and inspire the engineering team to achieve departmental goals.
• Project Oversight: Oversee multiple projects, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget.
• Resource Management: Assign workloads to engineering teams, optimize resource allocation, and foster collaboration.
• Technical Guidance: Offer hands-on technical guidance, especially in areas such as JavaScript, React.JS, and AWS.
• Budgeting and Scheduling: Estimate project budgets and schedules, ensuring efficient resource utilization.
• Stakeholder Communication: Collaborate with senior management, vendors, and clients, providing regular updates and negotiating project requirements.
• Quality Assurance: Ensure high-quality software development practices and adherence to best practices.
• Innovation: Drive innovation within the engineering function, exploring new technologies and methodologies.

Requirements:

• Technical Expertise: Proficiency in JavaScript, React.JS, and AWS. You will be teaching and mentoring both junior and senior team members in these areas whilst leading from the front.
• Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and motivate cross-functional engineering teams.
• Project Management: Experience overseeing complex projects from inception to completion.
• Communication: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Strategic Thinking: Ability to align engineering efforts with overall business objectives.
• Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Collaboration: Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (Master's preferred).
• Minimum of 8 years of relevant engineering experience.
• Previous experience in a leadership role within a technology-driven organization.
